James 2:15-17 reads, “Suppose a brother or a sister is without clothes and daily food. If one of you says to them, “Go in peace; keep warm and well fed,” but does nothing about their physical needs, what good is it?” In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead. (NIV)
The City Hill Food Bank is one of the avenues through which we as a church respond to this provocation. The purpose of the Food Bank is to distribute food to those in need and to serve as a storehouse for times of humanitarian crises anywhere on the continent and indeed around the world.
The food is donated by our members every Sunday, but we are open to receive donations from any individuals, organisations & companies.
There are various opportunities to get involved with this initiative:
- Bring non-perishable food items with you to church on Sunday!
- Contact Kenny & Zuki Phillips to make a pledge in cash or kind (We can make arrangements to collect)
- Notify Kenny & Zuki of any need that you think can be served by the Food Bank
- Volunteer to serve on the Food bank team (this will involve collecting, packaging & delivering Food)
